Inspired by their successful ‘Opinions Welcome’ campaign Laphroaig were looking for a creative that took the core premise but elevated it to match the special edition Sherry Oak Finish whisky. We suggested partnering with Kings Cross based sherry bar ‘Bar Pepito’ utilising their expert sherry sommeliers to give their own opinions to break from whisky tasting norms and highlight the impact the sherry cask had on the whisky finish. I kept the art-direction for the film in keeping with the bars aesthetic but lent into the Andalusian taberna inspiration with warm low lighting and rich natural materials. For the promotional stills I wanted to move away from traditional scotch whisky food pairings and instead went for distinctly Spanish tapas dishes emphasising the origins of the sherry cask and creating a link to sharing and scoiability.
